My First Six Months at Jargon PR

I’m Daisy Thiroff, a Junior Account Executive at Jargon PR on placement from Bournemouth University. During my first six months at Jargon PR, I have learned a great deal, gained invaluable PR experience and had lots of fun along the way.
As a Marketing Communications and Digital Media student, it was important to me that I found a placement that would allow me to apply and expand on the skills that I have achieved during my first two years of my degree. My six months at Jargon PR have given me the opportunity to accomplish all that and more. In my role as Junior Account Executive, I support the team across a diverse range of accounts and campaigns within the technology sector. My exciting and fast-paced role has given me experience with both the traditional and digital PR tools essential to work in this industry.
At Jargon PR, there is no such thing as a ‘typical day’ and this is one of my favourite parts of working at the agency. Every day is exciting as you work together to meet the campaign objectives of your portfolio of clients. One key element of my role is to draft and proof a range of essential PR materials for clients including thought leadership articles, blogs and press releases. I love the freedom and creativity of content creation, as it provides the opportunity to explore the interesting themes and topics shaping the future of the technology industry – I truly feel that I learn something new every day. As well as this, I also make sure to stay up to date on the latest trends, monitoring the media for exciting opportunities for my clients to jump on.
In addition to creating content, another key responsibility I have held at the agency is press relations both via email and telephone. This aspect of my role seemed daunting at first but has quickly become one of the most enjoyable and rewarding parts of my work. Building and maintaining press relationships is a skill that I definitely couldn’t learn at University, so having this opportunity and guidance from the team has been invaluable to me. One of my proudest moments in my first six months at Jargon has been securing top tier coverage for my clients including features in Metro, Forbes and Business Vogue – something I wouldn’t have dreamed of at the beginning of my time at Jargon PR!
The support from every member of the Jargon PR team on both a professional and personal level has been incredible. Being part of such a considerate and hard working team has been a catalyst for my development into my role and helped me to create a strong foundation for my future career in this industry. Despite being a placement student, Jargon PR has always made me feel like an essential part of the team and shown full confidence in me and my abilities. Every step of the way, the team has taken into account my personal interests and strengths which has provided me with some incredible opportunities. Not to mention the team certainly knows how to have fun and I have built some great memories at the team socials!
I am looking forward to gaining more responsibilities and exciting opportunities in my role and I can’t wait to see where the next six months will take me!
