Jargon PR speaks at YOU CAN: Do Business in the USA event
We recently attended the Department of International Trade’s event, YOU CAN: Do Business in the USA, and Katherine Rabey, Senior Account Manager at Jargon PR, led a talk about how to reach your target market in the United States with PR.
Taking place at The Granta Centre in Cambridge, the event discussed the key questions that companies regularly ask the Department for International Trade when looking to expand and develop business in the US. Some of the sessions included where to start when looking to enter the US market, how to establish, develop and operate in the U.S, and navigating the US tax system.
Kicking off with a welcome from Marguerite Meyer Bassnett, Director of International Business at Exemplas Ltd, we next heard several case studies from companies that have managed to navigate the US successfully.
We then broke off into three groups and attended different breakout workshops, depending on our interests. We attended one for companies that are already working in the US, but want to grow more over there, followed by a session exploring how to best conduct market research to inform a new marketing strategy in the US.
Jargon PR’s Katherine Rabey’s talk, entitled ‘PR in the US: Reaching Your Target Market’, explained the common challenges businesses can face when launching PR in the US and how to overcome these, as well as how to create a PR strategy in the US. Katherine went on to discuss the key tactics businesses should be focusing on, and finally looked at an example of a recent campaign led by Jargon PR, in which a client launched in the US, with great results.
The event finished with the closing note and round table discussions which gave people the opportunity to ask each speaker more questions and advice on developing new business in the US. The day was a great success and we enjoyed speaking to people who were interested in finding more about developing their PR strategy in the US.
