‘Trust in You’ at DMEXCO 2019

We were pleased to attend this year’s Digital Marketing Expo and Conference (DMEXCO) in Cologne, one of the biggest trade shows for Jargon PR as we work with lots of ad:tech and marketing clients. We had an insightful time hearing talks from industry experts, attending successful meetings, and lots of networking.
DMEXCO is a celebration of all digital business and marketing. It brings together key leaders and professionals within these industries for a two-day conference. This year’s event saw an impressive 600 speakers take to the stage, 1,000 exhibitors, and over 40,000 visitors from the advertising and marketing technology industry in attendance.
With ‘Trust in You’ being the main theme of this year’s show, consumer trust, GDPR, and programmatic were amongst the key talking points.
The conference opened with a talk from Townesend Fehan, CEO of IAB Europe, as he discussed their latest research, finding that programmatic revenue grew by 33% in 2018, topping a total of £14.8 billion. With over 400 different topics to be covered at the show, it was then in full swing. Just a few of our favourite speakers included Martin Sorrell, who discussed what we can expect from agencies in the next few years, as well as Jimmy Wales, co-founder of Wikipedia, as he explored mainstream media and fake news.
The show was rife with news announcements, including DoubleVerify revealing its partnership with Snapchat which will help prevent digital ad fraud and invalid traffic. With Snapchat now being able to use DoubleVerify’s fraud verification technology and data to increase transparency and optimise campaign effectiveness, we’ll have to see if other platforms follow in Snapchat footsteps.
After lots of conversation about privacy and trust, we can expect lots of change in the world of advertising and marketing technology over the next few months to maintain or for many, rebuild, consumer trust.
Thanks to all the organisers for another great show, we look forward to DMEXCO 2020!
