Web Summit: Three ways to make the most of the show
Web Summit is one of the biggest and most exciting tech conferences of the year, it’s held in Lisbon, Portugal. No conference has ever grown so large so fast, and in 2016 over 2,000 media from more than 100 markets attended. Held annually since 2009, this year’s event is looking to bring in more than 70,000 attendees from over 160 different countries.
1. Make your company news stand out
Web Summit is a fantastic event, but because of the large number of attendees, getting journalists attention is incredibly difficult. The talks are absolutely incredibly so if you’ve got company news, you’ve really got to stand out in order to get their attention. Journalists want information that their readers will find interesting and endearing, be unique in your approach yet easy-to-understand.
2. Attend the most relevant conferences
The event is made up of 21 conferences and over 1,000 speakers, which means it’s a super busy 3 days. Make sure that you only attend the talks that are relevant to your business, there’s so much going on throughout the 3 days you have to make sure you refine everything you do in order to make the most of each day.
3. Plan and prepare to attract attention
The speakers each year at Web Summit are first class, which makes it even more difficult to try and drag journalists away from talks. You have to go well prepared with a plan in order to stand a chance at attracting press. The more information you know, and research you’ve done about each journalist beforehand, the more likely you are to be successful at the event.
