My placement year at Jargon PR
Emma Walkom, Account Executive at Jargon PR
I remember my first day at Jargon PR like it was yesterday, it was my first full-time office job, and I had no idea what would be in store for me. Fast forward 13 months, and I could never have imagined how much I would have learned, as well as the great people and clients I’ve had the chance to work with along the way.
I started Jargon PR in July 2017, having completed two years at Bournemouth University studying Marketing Communications, I looked forward to expanding my knowledge and learn more about PR, as well as the B2B tech industry.
No day at Jargon PR has been the same, and my day-to-day activities always vary. My general tasks have included writing press releases, blogs and thought leadership articles on a range of topics including Blockchain technology, Cloud Computing and Marketing tech. I’ve also had the chance to organise media and analyst briefings for my clients at key trade events such as CES and Mobile World Congress. My other daily activities have included writing award entries, pitching for speaking opportunities at trade shows and running social media channels. As a placement student, I never imagined I would be given so much responsibility!
The team at Jargon PR have been fundamental to my experience here, and I feel very lucky to have worked alongside such a dedicated, hard-working, yet fun and hilarious mix of people. From our Christmas party in Dublin, to the more than occasional visit to the local pub in the Summer, to our Halloween celebrations, there’s always something going on at Jargon, and this is just one example how great the team gets on with each other.
