Jargon PR host successful workshop as part of London Tech Week

On Wednesday 14th June at Huckletree Shoreditch, Jargon’s London Office, our very own Sam and Laura led a workshop as part of London Tech Week.

London Tech Week is an annual festival of live events across the city, showcasing and celebrating the best of tech whilst providing networking, social, learning and business opportunities.

Titled ‘what we wish we’d known about PR’, Jargon’s event began at 4:30pm with a casual drinks reception allowing attendees to network before kicking off at 5pm. The one hour workshop focused on providing advice for companies looking to understand PR and how it can benefit them.

The Jargon PR team explained some essential need to know information about PR, using personal experiences to provide key advice on running successful campaigns.

Sam and Laura explained some of the subtle complexities behind PR, disagreeing with the view that it is a dark art. They also addressed the misconception that PR is just the tech industry’s way of massaging its own ego; highlighting that it is a means for brands to explain their value to a market.

Evidenced by Jargon PR’s client work Laura and Sam were able to provide a better understanding on how the use of data, news hijacking and thought leadership can be best get a message across.

Towards the end of the workshop the team answered some of the attendees questions, recognising the importance of relationship building with press.

With a total of 60 businesses signed up, the event proved a great success, providing the startups and established companies in attendance with the knowledge and tools to further explore PR and some basic components required to create a quality campaign.
