My Year At Jargon PR

It seems like only a few weeks ago I started my 12 month placement at Jargon PR and now I only have two months left. I can’t believe how quickly the time has flown by!

I’ve learnt so much in the past ten months. I now understand why years in industry are so highly recommended and sought after. When I return to Bournemouth University for my final year I will will have gained so many skills that help me in my final year and beyond.

This was my first job in PR. Everything was very new, exciting and different in every way to my former student life.

I have developed skills that not only will help me in the PR industry; from learning how to use a PR database, contacting target reporters and arranging media features, to scheduling press interviews, drafting press announcements and analysing, measuring and reporting results, but also really important skills that I will carry wherever my career takes me.

I’ve learned that attention to detail is key, proactivity is paramount and that my knowledge and understanding of my work and my objectives has to be first class. Communication is crucial to getting things done, whether to my team, my managers, clients, or external stakeholders..

Being part of the Jargon PR team has been great. The entire team have been very welcoming, always happy to help and explain everything, which helps me understand how my role fits into the bigger picture.

The weekly team catch ups are great, the quarterly meetings are highly social and lots of fun and supported with great Christmas and Summer parties!

I’ve loved my time here at Jargon and I can’t believe that it’s coming to an end. If you want to work with a variety of interesting and exciting clients, covering both business and consumer technology then Jargon PR is for you!
