CES is a gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. Held every January with more than 4,000 exhibiting companies, an exhibit space of more than 2.6 million net square feet and joined by more than 1,700 of the industry’s best and brightest in Las Vegas. CES 2017 marked the 50th anniversary of the largest global gathering of innovation and showcased the connected future of technology. The 2017 show was a record-breaker, welcoming the world’s biggest companies in addition to hosting 600 startups at the Eureka Park Marketplace.
1. Be well prepared
There are thousands and thousands of consumer tech companies at CES each year, so being well prepared with all of your materials is critical for getting the attention of the press. Plan out which keynote speeches you want to hear ahead of time, and position yourself strategically. Arrive early, from 30 minutes to an hour before as they often fill up quickly and you’ll end up missing out.
2. Plan your transport
The show is spread around a number of hotels in Vegas, so it’s important that you plan your route as transport can be a nightmare and getting from one hotel to another can be incredibly difficult. Take advantage of the many free shuttles, ride the Las Vegas Monorail or use one of the many ride-sharing services available.
3. Pre-book your briefings
Briefings need to be organised and pre-booked with journalists by early December at the very latest, otherwise it will be too late. CES is arguably one of the busiest weeks on the global tech calendar, and there are events, opportunities and conversations which will present themselves. Having a great strategy in place will ensure you’re able to keep a clear head and accomplish what you are there to achieve.
